Mattress Firm Lightens Up

The American mattress retail chain Mattress Firm has decided to take a softer approach to the box spring business. Since its founding in 1986, the company has always believed that the firmer their policies, the better. No longer!

The company plans to give a cushion to employees for tardiness and overall sales performance, hoping to support a healthier work environment without the back-aching rules and regulations.

But they’re not going too soft.

Employees will still be required to spring into action at some point in their shift, and sell mattresses sometimes. Corporate believes that providing no support or stability for their staff would be bad for their company’s health long term.

“It’s all about finding the right work aesthetic for the employees’ needs. Too rigid, and they’ll be sore. Too soft, and we risk losing the backbone of our workforce.” Ken Murphy, CEO.
